EliKine™ Human VEGF ELISA Kit: The Gold Standard for Angiogenesis Research

VEGF: The Master Regulator of Angiogenesis and Vasculogenesis
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a potent mediator of both angiogenesis and vasculogenesis in the fetus and adult[reference:18]. It regulates the proliferation, migration, and survival of embryonic endothelial cells and plays critical roles in wound healing, the female reproductive cycle, and—critically—tumor development and vascular leakage[reference:19]. VEGF binds to VEGF R1/Flt-1, VEGF R2/Flk-1/KDR, and Neuropilin-1[reference:20].

The Technical Advantage
The EliKine™ Human VEGF ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate VEGF-A in samples[reference:27]. An antibody specific for VEGF-A is pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and any VEGF-A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated detection antibody specific for VEGF-A is added, followed by proprietary EliKine™ Streptavidin-HRP conjugates[reference:28]. Color develops in proportion to the amount of VEGF-A bound[reference:29].
Why VEGF165 Matters
VEGF exists in multiple isoforms generated by alternative splicing and proteolysis[reference:30]. The predominant and most biologically active isoform is VEGF165—which is precisely what this kit is optimized to detect[reference:31].
Applications Across Research Fields
- Cancer Biology — tumor angiogenesis and anti-angiogenic therapy
- Cardiovascular Research — ischemia, wound healing, vascular repair
- Ophthalmology — diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration
- Reproductive Biology — ovulation, pregnancy, and placental development
The Bottom Line
For researchers studying angiogenesis, tumor progression, or vascular biology, KTE6033 delivers the sensitivity (16 pg/mL), dynamic range (31.25–2000 pg/mL), and specificity that modern vascular research demands[reference:32].
