Additional Information

Background G-CSF is a hematopoietic growth factor, which controls the production, differentiation and function of granulocytes and enhances the functional activity of mature terminal cells. Three transcription variants of G-CSF gene encoding three different subtypes have been found. Granulocyte/macrophage colony stimulating factor is a cytokine that plays a role in hematopoiesis by controlling the production, differentiation and function of two related leukocyte populations (granulocyte and monocyte-macrophage) in blood. G-CSF is clinically used to promote hematopoietic recovery after bone marrow transplantation.
