Product name Human Methionine-R-sulfoxide reductase B2, mitochondrial (MSRB2/CBS-1/MSRB/CGI-131) ELISA Kit
Reactivity Human
Applications ELISA
Applications notes This Human Methionine-R-sulfoxide reductase B2, mitochondrial (MSRB2/CBS-1/MSRB/CGI-131) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MSRB2 in samples. An antibody specific for MSRB2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMSRB2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MSRB2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MSRB2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Detection method Colorimetric
SampleType Cell culture supernatants, Other biological fluids, Plasma, Serum
Assay type Sandwich ELISA (quantitative)
Assay duration Multiple steps standard sandwich ELISA assay with a working time of 3-5 hours. It depends on the experience of the operation person.
Alternative MSRB2; CBS-1; CBS1; CGI-131; MGC26104; MSRB; PILB; methionine-r-sulfoxide reductase B2 variant 1; methionine-r-sulfoxide reductase B2 variant 3; pilin-like transcription factor

Additional Information

Background MSRB2 (Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase B2) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are Protein repair and Metabolism of proteins. GO annotations related to this gene include transcription factor activity, sequence-specific DNA binding and peptide-methionine (R)-S-oxide reductase activity. An important paralog of this gene is MSRB3. Methionine-sulfoxide reductase that specifically reduces methionine (R)-sulfoxide back to methionine. While in many cases, methionine oxidation is the result of random oxidation following oxidative stress, methionine oxidation is also a post-translational modification that takes place on specific residue. Upon oxidative stress, may play a role in the preservation of mitochondrial integrity by decreasing the intracellular reactive oxygen species build-up through its scavenging role, hence contributing to cell survival and protein maintenance.
