Product name Mouse IL-6 protein, His tag (Animal-Free)
Sequence Amino acid sequence derived from mouse IL-6 (P08505) (Met 1-Thr211) was expressed with a 6His tag at the C-terminus.
Protein length The recombinant mouse IL-6 consists of 193 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 21.9 KD. The apparent molecular mass of the mouse IL-6 is approximately 25 KD in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation.
Preparation method HEK293 Cells
Purity >98% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Alternative Interleukin-6; IL-6; B-Cell Hybridoma Growth Factor; Interleukin HP-1; Il6; Il-6

Product Properties

Formulation Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4.
Features & Benefits Endotoxin: < 1.0 EU per µg of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
Molecular weight 21.9 KD
Usage notes Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Mouse IL-6 protein using the buffer we provided not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Storage instructions Lyophilized Mouse IL-6 protein, His tag (Animal-Free)should be stored desiccated below -20°C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.25% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Shipping The product is shipped with blue ice.

Additional Information

Background IL-6 is a potent inducer of the acute phase response. Rapid production of IL-6 contributes to host defense during infection and tissue injury, but excessive IL-6 synthesis is involved in disease pathology. In the innate immune response, is synthesized by myeloid cells, such as macrophages and dendritic cells, upon recognition of pathogens through toll-like receptors (TLRs) at the site of infection or tissue injury. In the adaptive immune response, is required for the differentiation of B-cells into immunoglobulin-secreting cells (Probable). Plays a major role in the differentiation of CD4+ T cell subsets. Essential factor for the development of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells that are required for the induction of germinal-center formation. Together with IL-21, controls the early generation of Tfh cells and are critical for an effective antibody response to acute viral infection. Required to drive naive CD4+ T cells to the Th17 lineage, through 'cluster signaling' by dendritic cells. Also required for proliferation of myeloma cells and the survival of plasmablast cells.
