Product name Human Transmembrane protein 171 (TMEM171) ELISA Kit
Reactivity Human
Applications ELISA
Applications notes This Human Transmembrane protein 171 (TMEM171) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TMEM171 in samples. An antibody specific for TMEM171 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTMEM171 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TMEM171 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TMEM171 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Detection method Colorimetric
SampleType Cell culture supernatants, Other biological fluids, Plasma, Serum
Assay type Sandwich ELISA (quantitative)
Assay duration Multiple steps standard sandwich ELISA assay with a working time of 3-5 hours. It depends on the experience of the operation person.
Alternative TMEM171; PRP2; proline-rich protein PRP2

Additional Information

Background TMEM171 (transmembrane protein 171) is a 324 amino acid protein encoded by a gene mapping to human chromosome 5. With 181 million base pairs encoding around 1,000 genes, chromosome 5 is about 6% of human genomic DNA. It is associated with Cockayne syndrome through the ERCC8 gene and familial adenomatous polyposis through the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) tumor suppressor gene. Treacher Collins syndrome is also chromosome 5 associated and is caused by insertions or deletions within the TCOF1 gene. Deletion of the p arm of chromosome 5 leads to Cri du chat syndrome. Deletion of 5q or chromosome 5 altogether is common in therapy-related acute myelogenous leukemias and myelodysplastic syndrome.
