Product name Human Transferrin (TF) ELISA Kit
Reactivity Human
Applications ELISA
Applications notes This Human Transferrin (TF) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TF in samples. An antibody specific for TF has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTF present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TF is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TF bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Detection method Colorimetric
SampleType Cell culture supernatants, Other biological fluids, Plasma, Serum
Assay type Sandwich ELISA (quantitative)
Assay duration Multiple steps standard sandwich ELISA assay with a working time of 3-5 hours. It depends on the experience of the operation person.
Alternative TF; DKFZp781D0156; PRO1557; PRO2086;

Additional Information

Background Transferrin (TF) is a glycoprotein with an approximate molecular weight of 76.5 kDa. It is thought to have been created as a result of an ancient gene duplication event that led to generation of homologous C and N-terminal domains each of which binds one ion of ferric iron. The function of Transferrin (TF) is to transport iron from the intestine, reticuloendothelial system, and liver parenchymal cells to all proliferating cells in the body. Transferrin (TF) may also have a physiologic role as granulocyte/pollen-binding protein (GPBP) involved in the removal of certain organic matter and allergens from serum.
