Product name Human Transcription factor Maf (MAF) ELISA Kit
Reactivity Human
Applications ELISA
Applications notes This Human Transcription factor Maf (MAF) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MAF in samples. An antibody specific for MAF has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMAF present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MAF is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MAF bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Detection method Colorimetric
SampleType Cell culture supernatants, Other biological fluids, Plasma, Serum
Assay type Sandwich ELISA (quantitative)
Assay duration Multiple steps standard sandwich ELISA assay with a working time of 3-5 hours. It depends on the experience of the operation person.
Alternative MAF; MGC71685; c-MAF; Avian musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma (MAF) protooncogene; T lymphocyte c-maf long form; c-maf proto-oncogene; v-maf musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog

Additional Information

Background The protein encoded by MAF is a DNA-binding, leucine zipper-containing transcription factor that acts as a homodimer or as a heterodimer. Depending on the binding site and binding partner, the encoded protein can be a transcriptional activator or repressor. This protein plays a role in the regulation of several cellular processes, including embryonic lens fiber cell development, increased T-cell susceptibility to apoptosis, and chondrocyte terminal differentiation. Defects in this gene are a cause of juvenile-onset pulverulent cataract as well as congenital cerulean cataract 4 (CCA4). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for MAF.
