Product name Human Serine/threonine-protein kinase VRK1 (VRK1) ELISA Kit
Reactivity Human
Applications ELISA
Applications notes This Human Serine/threonine-protein kinase VRK1 (VRK1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate VRK1 in samples. An antibody specific for VRK1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyVRK1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for VRK1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of VRK1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Detection method Colorimetric
SampleType Cell culture supernatants, Other biological fluids, Plasma, Serum
Assay type Sandwich ELISA (quantitative)
Assay duration Multiple steps standard sandwich ELISA assay with a working time of 3-5 hours. It depends on the experience of the operation person.
Alternative VRK1; MGC117401; MGC138280; MGC142070; PCH1; vaccinia virus B1R-related kinase 1

Additional Information

Background Serine/threonine-protein kinase VRK2 is an a member of the vaccinia-related kinase (VRK) family of serine/threonine protein kinases. This gene is widely expressed in human tissues and has increased expression in actively dividing cells, such as those in testis, leukocytes, fetal liver, and carcinomas. Its protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and has been shown to phosphorylate casein and undergo autophosphorylation. While several transcript variants may exist for this gene, the full-length nature of only one has been biologically validated to date.Widely expressed. Highly expressed in fetal liver, skeletal muscle, pancreas, heart, peripheral blood leukocytes and testis.
