| Background | Bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) is TGF- β Members of the superfamily, expressed in the brain, kidneys, and bladder. It plays a crucial role in the transformation of mesenchymal cells into bones and cartilage. BMP-7 induces phosphorylation of SMAD1 and SMAD5, which in turn can induce transcription of osteogenic genes. In many types of cells, BMP-7 treatment is sufficient to induce all genetic markers of osteoblast differentiation. BMP-7 may have the potential to treat chronic kidney disease. BMP-7 injection may be a treatment option for infertility with poor FSH treatment efficacy. BMP-7 may also be used for the treatment of human obesity |
