Streptavidin is a 60kDa protein from Streptomycetes avidinii. The protein is a tetramer having four biotin-binding sites. Unlike avidin, streptvidin has a low isoelectric point (pI=5) and no carbohydrate groups, resulting in low nonspecific binding.
PurKine™ Biotin-Tag Streptavidin Resin 6FF is based on innovative high-capacity matrix for convenient single-step purifications of biotin and biotinylated substances. Biotinylated antibodies, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids and other molecules or interaction complexes can be captured, immunoprecipitated, removed or purified from samples using this streptavidin resin. The Resin consists of 90μm beads of cross-linked 6% agarose, to which Streptavidin has been coupled. In addition, streptavidin resin 6FF is a highly crosslinked resin that is able to tolerate at most 500 cm/hour linear flow rates. It's totally excellent for scaling up.
