Product name Human Deleted in azoospermia protein 2 (DAZ2) ELISA Kit
Reactivity Human
Applications ELISA
Applications notes This Human Deleted in azoospermia protein 2 (DAZ2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate DAZ2 in samples. An antibody specific for DAZ2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyDAZ2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for DAZ2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of DAZ2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Detection method Colorimetric
SampleType Cell culture supernatants, Other biological fluids, Plasma, Serum
Assay type Sandwich ELISA (quantitative)
Assay duration Multiple steps standard sandwich ELISA assay with a working time of 3-5 hours. It depends on the experience of the operation person.
Alternative DAZ2; MGC126442; pDP1678;

Additional Information

Background DAZ2 is a member of the DAZ gene family and is a candidate for the human Y-chromosomal azoospermia factor (AZF). Its expression is restricted to premeiotic germ cells, particularly in spermatogonia. It encodes an RNA-binding protein that is important for spermatogenesis. Four copies of this gene are found on chromosome Y within palindromic duplications; one pair of genes is part of the P2 palindrome and the second pair is part of the P1 palindrome. Each gene contains a 2.4 kb repeat including a 72-bp exon, called the DAZ repeat; the number of DAZ repeats is variable and there are several variations in the sequence of the DAZ repeat. Each copy of DAZ2 also contains a 10.8 kb region that may be amplified; this region includes five exons that encode an RNA recognition motif (RRM) domain. DAZ2 contains one copy of the 10.8 kb repeat. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
